Dr Jow'hara Chundra
Dr Chundra is a specialist psychiatrist in private practice at Oxford Healthcare Centre, and a director at The Day Clinic. She has worked in mental health for well over a decade, heading the Specialized Psychotherapy Unit at Tara Hospital for 7 years.
Her psychiatric training was through the University of Witwatersrand, where later as a joint appointee, she was involved with the training of undergraduate doctors and trainee psychiatrists, psychologists and occupational therapists.
She has also worked in London, spending 2 years working in Addiction and Acute Mental Health Services.
Dr Chundra has extensive experience in treating depressive disorders, bipolar disorders, ADHD, anxiety and trauma-related disorders. She is an expert in treating Personality Difficulties and Disorders, including difficulties with suicidal thoughts and behaviours, impulsivity, dependence on harmful substances/behaviours, interpersonal difficulties and issues around identity, sexuality and gender. She has a special interest in maternal (and parental) mental and emotional wellness.
Jow’hara is a Director at The Day Clinic and is also proficient in long and short-term individual therapy, as well as group work, especially Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
